Marco Island “Dolphin Explorer”

One of the iconic experiences of Southwest Florida and the Gulf of Mexico is viewing bottle-nosed dolphins at play. To visit Marco Island, with its privileged location, at the place the 10,000 Islands of the western Everglades meets the Gulf,  and not witness these elegant, graceful creatures would be a shame.

Fortunately, here on Marco Island, we have the “The Dolphin Explorer”, a 30- foot catamaran powered by two 225 HP outboards with a capacity of as many as 28 passengers.

Its design is perfect for both navigating the water of the Gulf and the backwater estuaries of the area. It also provides an excellent platform for surveys of dolphin life and the health of the local population, which the operators of Dolphin Explorer engage in.

The craft’s design and power attract dolphins to its wake, allowing passengers to capture action photographs. Survey Trips depart twice daily.

The Dolphin Explorer has a professional crew including a U. S. Coast Guard rated Master Captain and Mate who is a Master Naturalist and Wildlife Photographer.
